Solex 4A1 Rebuild
1 Attachment(s)
Hello All,
I pulled the carb from my 280C yesterday, that was fun. I hope that I I can remember all the connections, there are way too many. Currently I am about to get some more carb cleaner to soak the parts in, but while I am in the process of rebuilding it, could any of you explain this puddle I found in the manifold? Does this mean the carb is leaking internally? Also, I found gas/oil substance inside the 2nd section of the carb, just pooling up. Is this an internal leak as well? Thank You, -Rahul |
Could be, or it could be your fuel boiling due to stuck heat risers underneath on your exhaust manifold. Or maybe both, odd that it's only on one side of the carb.

Is there a way to test the heat risers? Can I get to them from under the car easily?
Thanks! |
Sorry, my mistake, I confused this post with the 250/solex. On an m110 there would be no heat risers due to being a crossflow design, lucky you! :-)

Washers...

When I was first working with the car I noticed that the carb had 2 sets of washers on the 4 threaded posts. As you can see in the picture, the 3 visible threaded rods have 3 yellow circles.
My guess is that this is not normal, which washer should I keep when I remount the carb? Any other input as to the puddle found in the manifold in the very first post? Currently, I am cleaning the base when the carb mounts to the intake manifold. |
Bump!
I am back this weekend and will be working on the car in the morning... Any advise regarding the washers? why would someone put two sets? |
