'94 E500 Unable to rev above 3500 RPM
I have an '94 E500 with 140k Miles (Superchip/K&N's/17" AMG monoblocks) mostly stock in immaculate shape - all bodywork perfect and a brand new radiator and A/C system after a minor fender-bender justified a BIG insurance claim
A week after I got my car back from having all the cosmetics and the cooling systems replaced, the engine got very ill... When I kick-down or rev up to 3500 RPM, the engine becomes shakey and burps and misses on all cylindars, it seems, and after I let go the accelerator, it continues to shimmy and burp for at least 20 seconds, which makes me think the engine has become flooded? I am guessing that the Catalytic converters are still ok, so I am thinking wiring harness/plugs/distributors may be shot? Anyone else have an opion or advice? Did they disturb your wire harness while making repairs?Check for deteriorating insulation on the wires. All 93 -95 124 cars had this harness problem. Have your local MB dealer do a VMI report on your VIN to see if the harness has been replaced. If it was disturbed during repairs , good chance it's bad.
