Seems like my throtlle is stuck..? :( Help !!
 

Guys

After I drove from Indianapolis to Chicago today (3 hr 20 min)

I got to the destination and as usually before I turn off the engine I give a slight rev.

And guess what happened.
The rpm is stuck at 2000 rpm ..

Everything else idle is fine, the car is running fine.

I looks at the actuator lingkage (the one that close to the fusebox), after I rev if come back to normal position, so it seems that that part is fine.

I am wondering if it could be electrical.

So now if I put the gear in N and rev it a little bit the rpm stucked at @2000prm, and of I put the gear in D it goes down to around 500-600 prm (which seems fine to me) then if I put the gear back in N, it goes back up to 2000 rpm..


Has antone experienced this problem before..

Hi,

Have you checked the pedal linkage?

Especially the connection between the pedal and the linkage.

Probably something else but you can eliminate one more variable.

I did check the accelerator pedal as well and it seems fine.

Did you fix it? the gas pedal cable isn't stuck or anything? Maybe lube it up w/ WD40 or something?

If you tap the gas pedal quickly a few times, does the idle come down?

don't know the answer to the problem, but i doubt
if it the linkage since changing gears have different
readings. could be the classic high idle problem
associated with the OVR among other things.

just wondering why do you have rev before shutting
off your engine?:confused:

it was the MAF indeed.

After I replaced it everything is fine, even the throttle response was immediately improved and felt so crisp... ;)
