hello i just baught a 1966 230sl,it had been sitting for a year after it ran out of gas. i have rebuilt the fuel pump and disassemled, cleaned, fixed the cold start valve.
when the car is cold it starts and runs good, after 10-15 minutes it wil not idle or stay running under 1500-2000 rpm without assistance of the cold start valve.let cool and come back it starts over again. where do i go next? |

My best advise would be to seek a good OLD tech with an exhaust gas analyser and experience with inline mech inj.
If you wish to learn this system start by searching the archives. There are many threads on the necessary testing you will need from here. You need to evaluate the thermostatic function of the pump since it often sticks when left sitting. You need to know how to manipulate the linkages to evaluate whether you have a lean or rich misfire condition.
