CLK500 Which year to get?
Are there years to avoid? When did the 7 speed come in, and is there a reason to care about the 5 vs. the 7? The 5 speed has been reliable in my E420, I am thinking about a clk500 cab if the price is right... There are two beautiful designo editions on ebay for about 25k

My father bought a 2004 brand new and owned it for nearly three years. Fantastic car, but he only put 2k on it during those 3 years.
Buy a bumper to bumper warranty if it doesn't come with one, and you'll be fine.

That seems to be the case with many of the Mercedes from 2000 on.

I have a 2004. you better off getting the 2005 and up model because in 2004 to 2005 the SOS changed from anolog to digital in 2005. My 2004 has the anolog and the dealership want at least $1,500 to change it to digital. You will get a malfunction code display on the dashboard. IT's driving me crazy to see it everyday on the dash.

Yes, 2005 is a big year for many cars, as that's when the NAV went to DVD and Sirius was available.
