Yes, you need to pinch off that return hose on the accumulator because if the diaphragm is shot, then your gas just goes back into the tank and you have low pressure.

no still doing the same as before after pinching the accumulator line..I have the correct voltage at pump..I don't know about the flow.. I don't have the tools to check that. So I'm kinda in a pickle. Any ideas on how to check the flow another way?

"1 liter in maximum 40 seconds at a minimum
voltage of 11.5 volts at the fuel pump."

You could disconnect the incoming line at the Fuel Distributor and measure 1 liter (1.05 qt.) during a 40 second fuel pump operation.

If you don't have a measuring bowl, you could use a 2 liter Coke bottle (or do you guys drink RC in Tenn.?), just kidding. Measure and mark a 1/2 full line on the bottle and check the Fuel Pump delivery rate.

Come on Brent, I have faith that you can fix Dammit, dammit!

Question

Did the flow test...and well it flowed 36 oz in 40 seconds..so it maybe a little weak but not bad. well actually a liter is 33.8 oz so guess it is close to minimal standards. So I'm thinking I've got an accumulator (another one) swap that out just because I love laying under it (ha ha). So which way now do you think?

Well, it looks like your pump, fuel filter, and accumulator is good. How did you get so many parts, did the PO give them to you when you bought the car?

First thing to do, go get yourself an ice cold RC and a Moon Pie, kick off your shoes and relax. Then get to work.....

Next, go back over the Fuel Distributor. Re-check the plunger. You need to somehow verify that the plunger is moving when the round plate is going down. Your symptoms sound like a stuck plunger.

Enjoy the RC and Moon Pie.

Put a little gas down the air valve and it fires right up then quickly dies. Every now and again can really pump the throttle and it will stumble around for about 3 mins and die. Check fuel pressure and it is the same as before. 80 psi. I also did what tinypanzer suggested (thanks for the pics too). Took 9 volt battery to idle control valve terminals and got no sound, no nothing. Checked the hoses too and they are ok even the one that runs under intake (used a mirror). So whatcha guys think now?
He states the pressure is good (80psi) to the Fuel Distributor, but might be a good idea to re-check.

Changed the accumulator. it actually seems a little better. The plunger is working. I can here it. Still believe I'm losing pressure somewhere..I'll recheck the pressure again let you know what it says here in a minute..

oh and Dave....the RC cola and moon pie festival is in October..You should come up and enjoy. We can go frog giggin and cow tippin..shoot I'll even spot ya nice coon skin cap.

ok here something curious..went out to check the pressure. Now its showing 76psi..but here's the funny part..it started and ran for about 6 seconds (no laughing, that made me excited). tried it again..and it ran for another 6 seconds. it almost smells (from the exhaust) like its either running (haha) rich or flooded..do you lean it out through the tower screw? or i'm getting excited over nothing

Adjust the EHA and measure the current through it before you adjust the fuel to air mixture for Lambda (tower screw).
Oh, leave the CIS gauge on so yu can double check the pressure as you fiddle with the EHA. You need to read the pressure difference between the upper and lower chambers of the distributor.

Weird!!! What is the spark plug brand and number? Also, check the spark plug wire firing order assignment. You bought the car not running so you never know.
Keep it coming....it's getting good.
