1994 W124 E320 Rear brake rotors question
I just got finished replacing the front rotors and pads on my '94 E320. When I removed the rear wheel, I found that those on the car were not of the ventilated type.
Mercedes has given me ventilated rears, based on my VIN number. It does not appear that these are interchangeable with the solid ones. Am I wrong? The ventilated rotors are much wider in cross section, so I assume the calipers would never fit around them. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Thank you for any help! Mark |

I have the vague memory that only the 500E/E500 has ventilated rear rotors, but I'm not sure. My 95 E300D has solids.

I think the wagon may have different rotors than the sedan. The wagon rotors are more expensive, and may be ventilated.

VIN cutoff point
appears to be F323055 for vented rotors, after that they are solid again. My father's 95 wagon has a serial number lower than F323055 and the rear rotors are indeed vented. Mark

We have no indication yet whether this is a wagon or a sedan. The sedan never had vented rear rotors. Another good example of why you should be specific in describing your model.
