E320 lower door trim removal
Hi, can anybody tell me how to remove the lower door trim on a 96-E320? The lower (soft) part of it removes like a wiper blade, but I need to remove the stiffer part (see attached picture) to fix some corrosion before it gets bad.
Thx. |

Nobody could help me on this one?
I have WIS 2006, but the software doesn't have a very good user interface (understatement of the century), and trying to find things can be painful. It's like SAP, for those who happen to know that program ![]() Section 72.10 in the "Documentation" area, which covers doors, doesn't seem to have anything on how to remove that particular item. Maybe the information is somewhere else? Could somebody point me in the right direction? It seems the seal could be pried down, but I just don't want to take a chance bending anything out of shape yet. Thx |

have you removed the inner door panel to look inside for clues?

Thanks for the suggestion Ray, I'll probably do that in the end, if I have no choice, but of course, I'd prefer not to remove more than I have to at the moment, because it's not an urgent problem.
Anybody else out there has an idea? Thx |

I found this exploded view of the door with all the parts. Aparently, the correct name for the part I'm talking about is "ledge" (part #53 on the diagram). It appears to be held in place by a series of fasteners (part #56 on the diagram).
Unfortunately, no close up view of the fasteners themselves. I can only guess that it's the type that snap in when pushed up through the holes in the bottom of the door. What do you guys think? |

Well, like everything else in life, once you know it, it's can't be any simpler
![]() The thing in question is held by seven press fit fasteners, it's just a matter of gently prying it down, that's all. The studs are molded in, and the large pieces that catch them are supposed to stay in the door, but some of them came out anyway. |

H7 - door panel removal for the w210 is quite basic and requires < 10 mins of careful movement (so as not to blow the airbag if you have one). if you look at the other links e.g door trim, they all seem to point to internally accessible fasteners, though that is just my guess. here are more videos, but again, they are for w210.... http://w210.pietrzyk.net/Default.htm
