I had to put a 1/8" groove in a steel cylinder, the idea came to me to put the cylinder in a drill and mount the drill in a vice going at full speed. then I used a hacksaw blade going in a 90 degrees to put in the groove. the purpose of the groove was to mnake a place for a snap ring. just thought i would share in case somebody had an application for this. anyone else have some homemade devices that they use?

I make tools all of the time. Most are specail, one off and one application tools.
I was talking to Doc one day and he told me of a friend that made a rear wheel bearing removal tool far superior to the factory tool. We see this from time to time where you just find an easier way to skin a cat.
