one of the two elec. cooling fans working...
Good Day All,
Driving on a rather warm day in stop and go, with the temp gauge steady at 110C I pulled over and opened the hood and noticed that only one of the cooling fans was operating. Is that normal or is there a problem? I've read some threads about the fan/s coming on at different speeds at different temps and bars, but should they both be on when one is on? Thanks, Matt Hemsley So.CA(where it's finally getting warm..mid 90's) |

fans
on your model, only one fan has an electric motor, the other one is stricly a parasitic unit, there is a small belt that connects the fan with the motor to the other one, i have never seen the belt break, it will just usually come off, the ones i replace seem to be deformed, so i suggest you replace it, here is the part number 011-997-00-92 fast lane has it for about $9.00

Just getting to this "old" problem. When pulling the elec. fan off to replace head gasket, I saw the belt pully just laying in between the fans and condenser. It doesn't look to be in too bad of shape so I'll probably order one and keep this one for backup.
Thanks, Matt |
