W115 Windshield Washer

Now that we're getting some dirty weather, I've had to put my windshield washers into service on my '76 300D- I've only had car since September, so hasn't been an issue until now. So- it has that almost silly foot pedal arrangement to activate the sprayers and automatic 3 to 5 sweeps of the wipers. Trouble is, the spray is very inconsistant. Sometimes it comes out of one side and not the other- then does a switcheroo. Other times it won't spray at all. Rarely does it give good spray on both sides. I've cleaned out both hood mounted nozzles with a hat pin, and really found they weren't clogged anyway. Also disconnected lines at various points, and when peddle is pushed, it pours out of the lines good and strong. I assume these work on vacuum, like most other accessories (must do, because they spray when engine is off and key is not even in the ignition switch).

Any ideas? I do have a couple of vacuum issues occasionally- mainly that when driving with doors LOCKED, the cruise control doesn't work well, and the engine won't shut off. When doors are unlocked, everything is fine- except the sprayers.
