Won't crank in park
My wifes '94 E320 wagon won't crank in park, it cranks fine in neutral though. Is this just an adjustment or does the transmission switch have to be replaced? Can somebody tell me where the switch is? I'm assuming it's on the transmission.
Thanks. |

Could be bad neutral safety switch, or bad shifter bushings. The neutral safetey switch is on the side of the transmission. From under the car follow the gear shift lever to a connecting rod to the transmission.

safet nuetral switch on drivers side of transmission
This switch gets lots of road dirt and corrosion. try wd40 liberally on switch body and control shafts. cleared up same problem for me.god luck, Abe G

I cleaned the contacts of my NSS with a di-electric spray and it worked again for about 4 months, before returning to its old self. the time has come to replace it.
