Front windshield pillar removal?

Some of you may notice my screen name here, just bought a 1999 SL500. Anyhow, I only found one problem with the car, just a minor one. The vinyl that covers the winshield pillars on the interior is coming loose near the dash and I want to re-glue the vinyl, I just need to know how I can remove the pillars without damaging them and I was hoping someone here could help me out. I searched the threads here and couldn't find anything regarding this.

I had your exact same problem on both of mine when I purchased it. It's easy, here is how you do it.

Take it to a trim shop and let them do it.
German Vinyl 25.00
Labor 2 hrs @ 60.00
Letting them be responsible for breaking something instead of me PRICELESS!

Finally fixed

I found this write up in another forum:
Use pdf 68-425 and 68-400 above. There is no need to remove most of that stuff. Don't remove the rearview mirror either. Just remove the visor, and pull, push and pull down as shown on the headliner window molding for the side you need to remove on the corner only, be careful to slide the t-pin out of the bracket then pull down. If you just move the outer edge the entire piece does not have to be removed. Pop that corner loose and it will pull down far enough to remove the pillar cover. pdf 68-400 shows the twist to remove the pillar. Pops right off, pushes back on, for me removing the door side first and install door side first worked best. Just align the tabs and its good to go.

Easy fix. I would now recommend removing the piece to stretch reglue the MB Tex material and then just snap the cover back into place. Took about 15 minutes to remove and replace.

Now for my two cents: the two clips on the edge closer to the outside of the car are at 5 and 13 inches from the top of the pillar cover. I used a plastic pry tool to snap the clips loose and then twisted the cover toward the center of the car and it came loose. I am attatching the pdf files as well as some pics I took or the a-pillar and a-pillar moulding. I hope this helps anyone with the same problem.
