If it stops raining this weekend, I will try to remember to look at the connector and give the color codes and their position in the connector for Euro headlights.
Have a nice weekend, |

Well it stopped raining but not before we had a small tornado or wind storm of some kind that took down most of my barn. Even though I'll be cleaning up mess and trying to get some things put away, I will still try to get the pinout for you.
Have a great day, |

I am not even sure what Euro headlights are, but they seem to be a good thing because everyone wants them. I have a 1981 240D, 123 chassis... I tried finding the part on the online catalog but was unsuccessful. I then tried to find the part number Dr. Parts quoted on the online catalog for GA-W123's car and was also unsuccessful. Not only am I interested in learning more about Euro headlights but also about how to properly search the parts catalog so that I get the full range of items that it offers for my vehicle. Thanks everyone!

Click on the link http://www.peachparts.com/catalog and on the left there is a box to search by part number. Type the part number in that box and click on search. I just tried it and works no problem.

Thanks TXBILL...
![]() Dr. Parts, how did you find the part number though... I was able to get the information by putting in the part number but not by browsing through the website after putting the cars id (make, model, year). I was wondering if their are other items that Partsshop has but doesn't come up while just surfing through without part numbers. Please advise. Thanks again everyone. ![]() SB |

15 years of looking up MB and Euro parts. Everything is pretty much in Fastlane. There are a few trick numbers that only the Doctor can perscribe and has no problem to help out anyone in this forum τΏτ

silverbullet,
The Euro headlights are better than US lights on a 123 car like yours, but your car has sealed beams and you can buy Sylvania Extra Vision sealed beams for your car and have lights that aren't bad. The reason you see all the Buzz about Euro lights is on the 124 cars. The early 124 US spec. lights are like having a couple of C cell flashlights on the front of your car. Everyone learns how bad they are and starts lookig for an alternative. I have Euro lights on my 240D and they are nice, but the ExtraVision sealed beams I took out weren't real bad. Good luck, |

The correct Pin Conversion
This the correct pin conversion for Euro Headlights on 1983 300D W123. I found this on a earlier search.
The pin conversion for replacing USA version headlights with Bosch Euro version is as follows. Since the wiring color code may not be identical on all models I'll provide both the color code and the old 4-pin number code. The color codes are for a W124 which you can confidently use for that model. If you have a different model, I recommend recording the wire colors and corresponding pin numbers before removing the female pins from the socket. If the color codes don't match with the instructions below, then use the pin numbers rather than wire color when transferring pins to the 6-pin socket. So here's the procedure: 1) remove back cover from old 4-pin connector and note the wire colors and pin numbers, 2) if you need it, MB part # for the 6-pin connector is 0065458028, 3) insert the old pins into the new 6-pin connector as follows: - old pin 2 (brown) goes into new pin socket 2 - old pin 4 (white) goes into new pin socket 4 - old pin 3 (yellow) goes into new pin socket 5 - old pin 1 (green) goes into new pin socket 6 3) replace back cover, plug it in, and enjoy much better lighting! Barrie originaly posted this, THANKS, it works! [Edited by GA-W123 Diesel on 03-02-2001 at 06:10 PM]

^bumping this to the top^
I just ordered the european headlights for my car (using the above part numbers). Very excited ![]() Do I need to buy bulbs for the city lights? I'm going to pick up a set of H4 PIAA Plasma Blues for the headlights, and I already have a set of nice high-wattage H3 bulbs for the foglights. Thanks! Chris |

Am I missing something?
In my Euro headlights there are only two bulbs, one for Hi-LOW beam H4 and one for fog H3..

I just remember reading about "city lights" that supposedly light up the main headlight reflectors dimly, basically taking the place of parking lights. Not sure if that's really true.
From what I gather there are two kinds of european lights that you can get for these cars - the older style, which still have the round lights and the gray grille like the U.S. style lights (except you can use H4/H3 bulbs instead of sealed beams), and the newer style that is basically a flat piece of glass with no more gray grille. There's a good example of this "old style" that I just mentioned up on Ebay right now. I sure hope the parts I ordered were the newer flatglass style, or I'll be sending them back ![]() |

Mine don't
If you are talking about the parking lights, both turn signal lights come on at the same time. Which are the parking lights, the main headlights do not come on.
