PS, from what I've read removing the ALDA only increases throttle response, not actual HP and torque figures. Just lets you give it more gas before boost builds up.

Same problem

I have the exact same problem in my '99 E300, CEL stays on and GP light comes back on after going off. You can check for blown glowplugs at the relay next to the washer bottle in the driver's side...
