Von Trapp family then and now

I always thought Liesl was hot. Julie Andrews still looks the same. The younger kids got a bit big.

Wasn't this all supposed to have happened in 1938 just before the Anschluss (sp) and Hitler took over his native Austria?

None of them would be young. Liesl would have been 13 then I think, and yeah she looked good THEN. She would be ancient now though.

Uhhh, that's when the STORY LINE was supposed to have taken place. The movie "The Sound of Music" (the pics above are of the cast) was made sometime in the 50's if I remember correctly.

ALL of the members of the cast were more attractive than any members of the actual family, IMO.
Liesl was a hottie.

this would be the movie version and not the real McCoy.

By this time the whole family would be pushing up daisies.

You're correct. I got a bit curious.

The movie in fact was made in 1965. I recall now I took my grandmother to San Francisco in '65 when it first came out.

The bio of "Liesl (Charmian Carr) says she was born in December 1942.

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0139642/bio

And got divorced in 1991. So she is alive, and evidently unattached. lol.

Little too old for me. But only just barely. It'd need to be tapped GENTLY...I guess.

The actually Von Trapp family emigrated to the US after the war. I think they lived in Vermont. I don't think any of them or the next generation performs.
The 'Sound of Music' was filmed in Salzburg Austria. My family spent Christmas in the town where the writer for 'Slighlent Night' was buried. It is near Salzburg. It was snowing on the drive up to the town. The next day it was 50 degrees F. We did tour Salzburg. There were stops or mentions of places where the movie was filmed. Many of the places are actually royal summer palaces and such. The place were the kids are swimming is actually a large, very large palace pool. It is suppose to rain a lot in the spring. For the gazebo scene, the waited a few weeks, and no rain. Finally, the called in the fire department and 'made' it rain. We did get to drive by the actually Von Trap house. More of a typical large thatch roof house. At least as I remember.

Trapp Family Lodge is in Stowe Vermont, big X country ski trail center resort. I used to use the trails in the early 80's, living next door.
