JFK ballistics
There was a show on last night on pbs about the ballistics of the kennedy shooting. The rifle used was a little known 6.5 mm which had a very heavy bullet for the size of the bore. They tested it different ways but the thing that really impressed me was they shot it into a stack of 3/4" pine boards bookended on a table and it penetrated about 36" of pine with very little veering off and the bullet was nearly in perfect condition when they dug it out of the board it came to rest in.
I think that shows the viability of the one bullet theory. I did not watch the whole show. (There was a new pickers on too ![]()

Yeah I saw it too. Then they went into more detail showing how that bullet type when fired through material similar to human bodies likes to start to tumble, just like it did when it passed through Connolly. And, it squeezed lead out as it was compressed laterally , which they found in Connolly. Pretty good show.

I saw that part too. Interesting.
Although I think Oswald may have acted alone or may have been framed or hired I have never thought much of the evidence for a second shooter.

I saw the entire show. What stuck me was the fact that they could not reload and fire 3 shots in the time that transpired that day. That fact alone speaks volumes.

I watched the guy on the show trying to rapid fire the bolt action rifle. He was not practiced with it and it may not have been oiled up and working as well as possible. I have practiced with bolt action rifles and I believe three shots in 2+ seconds are possible. OTOH there is not clear evidence there was a third shot was there? How many casings were found in the sniper nest?

I was in the former Texas School Book Depository about 10 years ago, standing at a window one floor directly below Oswald's alleged firing position. If you had any degree of firearm proficiency, it was like shooting fish in a barrel. Dealey Plaza is a lot more compact than it appears to be in photos or movies.

JFK Assassination Conspiracy Theories: John Kerry Has 'Doubts' Lee Harvey Oswald Acted Alone In Killing John F. Kennedy I remember finding out about the shooting between classes on campus in the early afternoon. My French class instructor was really shaken up. He dismissed the class and the whole University closed in mid afternoon (EST). The student center was mobbed with students as was the campus Chapel. ![]() That was the Friday before Thanksgiving. I went home to NYC & watched Ruby kill Oswald on TV on Sunday, which happened to be my Birthday. Most of the country was glued to the TV for the week. My school didn't resume classes until the Monday after Thanksgiving. *** The NFL played on however .... ![]() All regular programming was canceled. High school football games, college football games, all canceled out of deference to the tragedy. The AFL suspended its schedule that weekend as well. But not the NFL. New commissioner Pete Rozelle nervously debated within his inner circle as to whether the schedule of games for Sunday, November 24th should be allowed to go on despite the death of the president. Rozelle even contacted the White House and spoke with press secretary Pierre Salinger to seek advice. Salinger opined that President Kennedy, an ardent football fan, would have wanted the games to go on. How he knew this was anybody’s guess as JFK’s thought processes came to a sudden and violent end when the third bullet exploded his head during that fateful motorcade. But even the President’s own brother, attorney general Robert F. Kennedy, was said to have agreed with Salinger and told Rozelle that the Kennedy Family would not be offended if the football games were played on Sunday while the President’s body lay in state inside the Capitol Rotunda. Right, wasn't the rifle in question bolt-action and about 50 years old?

As most people, I've viewed many of the shows presenting the "evidence". However, the last television show I viewed showed how the the sixth floor depository appeared when investigators first arrived. To me, the scene literally screamed STAGED STAGED STAGED. A staged crime scene, imagine that. Plus, those idiots were handling all sorts of evidence including the rifle with their bare hands, no gloves.
Everything, the rifle, the shell casings, the boxes were all just a little to conveniently placed to "tell a story". If we set this story up properly, the public AND the police will buy it, lock, stock and barrel. And so they did. |

Don't know about that; however, there were specific groups of people and businesses who benefited greatly by getting Jack and Bobby out of the way.

True, but the point was the bolt action mechanics of the rifle prohibited 3 shots in that time span. And consider in the show they were not trying to refocus on a target as well. That would add time.

The highest Osawld ever shot was sharpshooter. After that, he only scored enough to be rated marksman.

Scope, tri or bipod mount, breathe slowly then take careful aim and pull the trigger slowly. Remember to lead the vehicle slightly due to the fact that it IS MOVING. Then, quickly cycle the bolt action to eject the cartridge and reload. Reacquire the target, breathe slowly, take careful aim, squeeze the trigger slowly. Now, do it all again. All in three seconds.
