Can someone help me with a shoes question?

when selecting childrens shoes for my young son how do I choose some that will not blister the behind side of his ankle? This problem is prone to the boy and he usually needs to face this problem when I buy him new shoes. Are there any shoes that I could use to help reduce this problem?
