Gravity Inversion Boots

I suffer from low back pain (SI joint dysfunction) and am considering buying gravity inversion boots and a bar to hang from. Anyone have any experience with these?

Not cheap at $149 from amazon.

http://www.amazon.com/EZ-Up-Inversion-Rack-Gravity-Boots/dp/B0012TLU02/ref=pd_bbs_sr_3?ie=UTF8&s=sporting-goods&qid=1235512165&sr=8-3

I've done physical therapy, chiropractic, meds and a cortisone shot but I am still experiencing low back pain and am almost always very stiff. I feel, intuitively, that the decompression will help reverse the effects of many years of long distance running. (I am not concerned about injuring myself by falling on my head while using them.)

I do a series of 8 back stretching and strengthening exercises nearly every day. I lift weights 2 or 3 times a week and run 3 times a week for a total of 20 to 25 miles.

I see this subject has been discussed, tongue in cheek style, on this forum previously.
Who remembers . . .

There was a guy on TV selling a inversion table. Looks like it does the same thing, except that getting inverted and getting back up-right is easier with his gadget.
If I see that guy on TV tonight, I will post his name and website (if he has one).

Don't forget to pick up a DVD of "American Gigolo", which portrays Richard Gere hanging upside down like a fruit bat. Some of his best acting, IMO.

I had one of these:

I gave it to my Mom and she uses it every day. It helps her back and her doctor is aware of her using it and approves.

If your back pain is in the lower back, inversion CHAIRS are better:

If it works $150 is cheap, if it doesn't was worth the try. Ask your orthopedist what he/she thinks first.

The early versions, which used the bar between the door jambs . . . was a leading cause of cervical injuries when you fell to the floor.

I have some. I used to hang upside down with them from a bar that attached to a door frame. Running would make my back hurt and those made it feel better. I'd do sit ups with them, too. I saw Richard Gere doing that in American Gigolo and thought it was pretty cool. maybe I'll dig mine out and start using them again.

Yea, I saw that a few weeks ago too. It is made by the same company that Chad300tdt linked above. The table systems cost over $400.

Good suggestion from Howitzer to check with my orthopod first.

I have one of these I use it every morning and evening. I got mine from Amozion.com $300.00. I had a fusion on L4/5 in 1997. And I was rear ended on 9-9-08 in my 1976 240D and now have a herniated disk in my neck. A girl was texting when she crashed in to me. I told my Dr. about the inversion table I have, they said it is more for the lower back but if it helps then keep using it. I am trying acupuncture right now it is helping I think. If you do get one go slow. I do not recommend just getting the boots it is hell trying to get on and off of the darn thing.
good luck
