As did I, I thought Lexus was synonymous with "Everlasting"

Toyota....ugh, they charge a LOT for parts! I bought a gasket for my wife's Rav4....it was $8!!! for a gasket that had to cost them about 15 cents to make!

If I can't find a computer job sometime soon maybe I will start trying to get in at the MB dealer. I agree, the parts guys are WAY happier than the service guys.

My Lexus has never broken on me, nor needed serious repair, however it is 100% devoid of any soul. I'd love to work parts dept, sure beats dealing with the average public coming in with problems (service's realm).

Its amazing in this economy how bad some people are doing. At Orlando International Airport, where I work, most of the airlines are cutting full time employees to part time and decreasing flights in cost saving measures, thus making people look elsewhere for jobs. I have seen first hand a decrease in air travel. On the otherhand, I just received a promotion and hefty pay increase, oh the joys of being a federal employee. . .

Good luck at Lexus!

Congrats on the new job.

Parts on all cars do wear out if it is driven and the Lexus is no exception. If you think MB parts are expensive price out some LS400 parts sometime.

Just for kicks HD what is the price for a new starter for a '92 Lexus LS400?

Congrats!! I too am in the market for a new job. I've been applying at all the local dealerships trying to get my foot in the door as a service advisor. It seems like one of the few jobs that pays what i need it to pay, is in the automotive field, and actually has steady income(unlike sales which is feast or famon). Got two interviews tomorrow, one is at a VERY busy toyota dealership, i definitely have my fingers crossed on that one.

Kicker for me is, while i do have a degree in B.A., as well as experiance managing a buy here pay here dealership, i don't have any direct service advising experience, and i'm competing with people that have years of experience being a service advisor. Hopefully my degree and nice smile mean something! I also tend to interview very well so that is also a plus, but i know at my dealership when i was hiring experience meant much more to me than a degree or a nice smile. We'll see how it goes.....

Once again congrats!

I would never work in a Japanese dealer or own anything but a German car......

Oh wait....I already do.

Congratulations on the new job. In this economy its tough finding anything worth having and possibly anything at all.

Yep, I guess I should have asked the question in a different way. HD what is the shop cost to change a starter on it? Wonder what dealer cost for the starter is for the average Joe? I imagine they are expensive for both the MB and Lexus. I have heard some horror stories in regards to changing it out.

Wait, the starter is mounted on top of the engine? Bet it stays nice and warm, especially in July.

The dealer cost? Probably more than the car is worth, its time to junk it.

I have heard $1,700...

Most all forums require you to introduce yourself before posting.

Jumping in with both feet and soliciting is, in my opinion....and it is MY opinion, is rude, arrogant, in your face, unprofessional, and gives me cause to doubt the ultimate targets of that organization. Least of which, would be customer satisfaction.

I have been around a long time and I have seen nothing to change my opinion.

The originator of the post can be contacted via IM . I think the 'Wheel guy'
( I refuse to continue promoting his company name. ) is unashamedly promoting his company here in public.

For those of you saying I am a hypocrite...show me any of my posts that promote my business.

Using your company name is one thing...but this blatant promotion is ott.....or am I

See my sig'.
