Ron- If you contact Contemporary Motors, ask for Jeff Charig.....He was our salesman and he is really a great person to deal with. Tell him I sent you..I send a-lot of people there who are looking for cars, or just plain looking. There is no PRESSURE to buy....He will also give you a complete tour of the dealership. Enjoy!

Gentlemen,

Based upon the recommendation of one of the guys here (CaptinAlex) I took my 1990 500 SL to Competition Imports of Smithtown. I had a very detailed inspection for a high-speed driving class I was planning on attending this weekend (long sad story). Additionally I was having a problem with the driver’s side door lock and was thinking of putting in new Bilsteins.

The customer service is great, very professional setup i.e. loaner cars, transportation to LIRR, nice people, etc.

Thus far I would recommend them...

I should note however, I never checked the door lock prior to leaving and as it turns out neither did they. The new locking mechanism was faulty and so I still have the problem. However to my surprise, since I live out in Nassau County, and it was in part their error, they have offered to pickup and deliver the car. They also talked me out the Bilsteins, since the car didn’t need them. (When was the last time a dealer told you not to spend your money?)

Good luck.
Tony

I purchased from Competition..

Unfortunately I cannot recommend them for service.

Their service costs are astronomical and they screwed me on a suspension spring upgrade for my SLK.

My car purchase experience was fine but the service is another story.

I need a private shop.

Hi.
I've had my volvo serviced and i am having my MB 77 Euro 350SLC's engine rebuilt at

North Shore Imports
130 Belle Mead Road Suite 2E
E. Setauket NY 11733
631-689-1408

Located Off route 347, just east off nichols road.

The owner is a very straight forward , no BS type of

I think I found a place.

I just received a letter about a place in Smithtown.

Parkville Mercedes and Volvo Specialists.

They are on 330 East Jericho Tpke Smithtown, NY 11787

631-360-1919

They are right next to Smithtown Toyota.

I Spoke to Jay who is the Mercedes mechanic there.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Well,

I had a lot of service performed at Parkville.

Jay is very nice and knows what he is doing.

He worked on my car for 4 days. I had a sportline suspension installed, a partial exhaust system, flex disk replaced, engine mounts, differential resealed and some other small items.

I'll go back to him if I need service.

The shop is:
Parkville MB, Volvo
330 East Jericho Tpke
Smithtown, NY 11787
631-360-1919

Ask for Jay Lettieri

Tell him Dr. David Leonoff sent you.

I went to the Freehold,NJ MB dealer to get a 60000 mile service for my 1973 280SE 4.5. They refused me because they no longer have the techs that are familiar with old cars. About two weeks later, the steering wheel started to clunk when turned right or left. The service manager said it could be the tie rods or ball joints and to bring it in to put it on a lift. I brought it in but the service manager was on the road. I got another service tech there and demonstrated the clunking sound. He took the car to the service area and in 5 minutes he came back with the car and said the noise disappeared. I know that they do not want to service this car but I don't know what they did to get rid of the steering sound. I did not follow the car and therefore did not observe the techs and they provided no info how the noise was eliminated only to suggest I bring the car for service somewhere else. My question is what could they have done and is it dangeroussince there was the sound when turning the steering wheel

I know the dealership you are talking about and I NEVER would use just for those kind of experiences you have described. This type of practice has been demonstrated there and customers only find out after it's too late. I can HIGHLY recommend Contomporary Motors in Little Silver, it's only about 5-10 miles from David Michael in Freehold. Ask for Dennis, he is the service manager and I know him quite well. Inform him that we spoke and expliain your experience to him. He may be able to tell you over the phose about the safety issue....eith way, you need to get the car looked at. Contomporary Motors is an EXCELLENT dealership all around-----BAR NONE. I have purchased several cares from them becuase of their customer satisfaction and attention to details that ensure your motoring pleasure. Keep me posted as to how you make out....You can go on Contompary's site at http://www.mercedesoflittlesilver.com Good luck

Great MB Shop in NY

Dear Grapes
I just bought a 1987300E and have been taking it to Rennsport in Bedford Hills. They have a great shop -- do very professional work -- and bill fairly. So far all the major maitenance work and the new a/c system they have done and installed for me has worked perfectly.
Call Ed at RENNSPORT AUTOMOTIVE INC. (914) 241-3338 (353 Adams Street, Bedford Hills NY 10507) and tell him that Marc Coupey sent you. Let me know what you think of this shop if you use them.
