Feedback on K&N filters for ML's

I just installed a K&N on my ML55. I have read a few posts claiming they arent reccomended? Your thoughts?

K&N and BMC

I used a K&N engine air filter on my 99 ML320, and it did foul the MAS. It seems the ML is more sensitive to non-OE filters than other MB models. Furthermore, I use BMC air filters in my GT3 and SC with no problems.
