I have a 1999 ML320, I bought it used a year ago. I have a lot of sensor problems. I have had the ABS lights come on a lot, that sensor was replaced. The check engine light has been on and the diagnostic test showed the Mass Air sensor is failed so they replaced it. I have an extended warranty on it that covers everything BUT "wear parts". Is the MAS considered a wear part? The dealership I went to couldn't be bothered to fully read the contract for the extended warranty and charged me over $500 for parts and labor. I have read that it only takes about 5 mins. to replace Are the sensors an ongoing problem with these models?

The Mass air flow sensor (meter) isn't a WEAR item at all. Yes it does have a high fail rate, approx 10-15%. Most parts have less than 1% failure rate.
MB part number 112-094-00-48 has a list of $338. Replacement time is .2 hr & diagnostic time of 0.8-1.2 hr. Contact you extended warranty company & file claim!!
