Tranny Ratios?
I've checked my resources, and I can't find the tranny ratios (gears 1-4) of a 1995 C36 with tranny 722.328
Thanks in advance, :-) neil 1988 360TE AMG 1993 500E |

The final drive ratio was only 2.87:1 from August 1996 until production stopped in June 1997, I would assume this means all model year 1997 C36's. This is the same time frame that the 722.6 5 speed electronically controlled transmission was installed. Prior to August 1996, the ratio was 2.85:1.

I've checked the diff and the C36 Introduction to Service Manual for my 1995 C36.
The rear diff is 2.87 just like the manual states. The 1997 rear diff is 3.07 :-) neil |

I'll take your word for it, this disc MB gave me has been wrong before. I'll check my intro book at work too. Is the manual you're looking at, is that the owners manual, or you mean the intro book? Is the owners manual C36 specific?
Have you ever had problems with the B+ wire ( the heavy gauge one) breaking off at the connector? Gilly

Introduction into Service Book for the 1995 C36.
I have had the alternator B+ wire break-off IF the ground at the tranny is loose or corroded. :-) neil |

OK Thanks Neil, I'll check it out. This is a salesmans car at work, it's happened 3 or 4 times now. I finally got a 2 foot section of 6 gauge wire and soldered that into the harness with an appropriate 6 gauge end on it. It keeps "shearing" off right at the end of the wire, doesn't look melted or anything. Motor mounts OK, the engine would hit the hood before it'll pull out the wire.
MB doesn't sell the stock terminal end for the B+ wire, so we've been having to make do with what we can find that will fit. Gilly
