Selling my 1966 Cadillac Sedan DeVille :( so sad to let her go...
If you know of anyone interested in my 1966 cadillac sedan deville…
Through saddened teary eyes I’m selling her: she’s a fixer upper but she’s solid on the inside…. 1966 Cadillac Sedan DeVille... four door hard top (Hard top meaning you can roll all the windows down and there are not middle posts) she's big enough to stick four of your friends in the back with 2 more in the front...and she's got a trunk big enough to stuff 5 bodies inside comfortably ;-) ... the car is a gem...i really don't want to let her go... needs new paint and interior work... minor minor body work... hubcaps are in the trunk... super straight body no rust No accident engine is strong tranny just serviced car runs great... i just never have time to drive her... ![]() 88,000 original miles YEAH THAT'S RIGHT 88,000 ORIGINAL!!! let me know if you or anyone you might know of is interested...

Best of luck with the sale. Some paint and she'd be a real sled.
I put my '69 Fleetwood up for sale last spring. Right before gas prices shot up luckily. I placed an ad in Collectorcar Traderonline and it sold within 2 months. I thought it would take all summer. Although, the first month I tried all the freebie ad routes with only a few calls. If I were you, throw an ad up on Craiglist, Caddy discussion boards, local freebie rags, park it in a lot near high traffic area and see what happens. If it's a struggle, check into some of the old car mags/online. |

This is a real cruiser
Wasn't 1966 the first year for variable ratio PS?
Still the "Standard of the World Area" Lots of potential there, these very cars are much more appreciated in Europe than here - Cadillac clubs in Finland, Sweden, Germany A car like a '66 SDV would be cherished over there, and restored too Looks like a Calif. black plate car too - that's alweays a plus. (though plates are concealed in some pictures.) What about ebay.de? (Germany - it qualifies as an oldtimer) Cadillac really meant something then. Might be a little tough to sell in Calif. with gas prices as they are right now. Is that a Residential Parking Permit, the yellow "C" were the San Francisco Chinatown/Nob Hill area? I used to live in SF, and there was a black market for them!! Or maybe San Diego Prices will vary widely depending on condition and mileage on these, so hard to advise you on price. What are they selling for in Hemmings?

Just out of curiosity...
How big is the engine in that?
I'm not going to bother asking what kind of milage it gets ![]() |

Variable-ratio power steering was a new option in '66 as were carbon-cloth seat heating pads. Yep, heated seats in the 60's!
![]() His boat has the 429. Good point about Hemmings, check the comps. I'd also look at eBay and all the other online old car ad sites. |

Wasn't the 429 a Ford engine?

Indeed, but Cadillac had one as well ('64-'67). Not the most sought after motor. Many street rod guys look for good 472 and 500's to build up and use for a transplant.
'68 saw the 472 which was a real torque monster. I had one in my '69 Fleetwood, it would lay a wheel for 30 feet. ![]() |

Nice Cadillac. My uncle had a 65' Sedan DeVille, which looks virtually identical - it was even the same color. He deals in old cars has a hobby. I think he paid $500. for it here locally, but took it back to NC and sold it for something like $3500. It was in excellent, original conditions. The only problem was faded paint.
Yeah, blackE55 is correct, these had a 429 Cadillac engine. It just so-happened that Ford also made a 429 engine. True too that the 472 is a desired Cadillac engine. My old 72' Cadillac Sedan DeVille had that engine. My grandmothers old 73' Cadillac Eldorado had the 500 engine. One of my other uncles has a 1972 Cadillac Fleetwood 4dr with an excellent 472. I think he is going to part it out, because it was vandalized by the wife of the guy he bought it from. ![]() Its hard to put a price on it, without actually seeing it, but I would at least ask $2000. for it. Since the body is solid, that is a good selling point. I still have a couple of "tanks" myself. Here is my 1973 Pontiac Grand Ville (455 engine) - photo taken today (May 14) ![]() And my 1969 Chevrolet Caprice (396 engine) getting ready to undergo restoration ![]() And here is grandpas 55' Cadillac - 88K actual miles, always garage kept....photo taken in early April of 06'. ![]() Find the Caddy a good home! She is definitely worth restoring! 66' was the last year I liked until 1971. I never really cared for the 67'-70' models like I did the others. |

There's a 66 Coupe sitting out in a cattle feedlot a few miles from me (North of North Dakota)... I've had my eye on it, but am wondering if a parts car for brakes, hubs, engine, trans, suspension, etc. could come from a boneyarded 80's. Any comments?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() That is one thing I like about the old cars of the 60s and 70s, is that they are so oddly equipped. Some of the "lower line" cars can be highly optioned and the higher line cars can be lowly optioned. I also have another tank, but it is not as old- my 89' Pontiac Grand Safari 9-passenger wagon- ![]() And some of my tanks I owned in the past.... ![]() ![]() This is my old 72' Buick Electra Custom. I sold it to someone in South Carolina. I regret selling it. This was about 5 years ago, before we even had our driveway paved. ![]() My old 85' Caprice Estate 9-passenger wagon ![]() Here is my old 71' Caprice (from about 6-7 years ago) ![]() My old 69' Pontiac Safari (from about 4 years ago) I have had other big old cars in the past, but sadly, no photos.
