Classics and Coffee at Mercedes-Benz Classic Center Grand Opening!
On Saturday the 13'th the new home of Mercedes-Benz Classic Center in Long Beach CA (formerly in Irvine CA) has their Grand Opening "Classics and Coffee" car show. It was AWESOME!!! There were a hand full of non-MB cars in another part of the parking lot, but the main lot was full of MB Classics! Also, what looked to be a 4,000 square foot red carpet was lined up with several Million dollars worth of 300SL Gull-wings and Roadsters. There were rows and rows of 123's, 126's, 114's, 116's, 108's, and R107's. It was probably the best MB specific car show I have ever attended. Great fun was had by all. Several Forum members were there, mostly from Diesel Discussion. Here are some photos:

Posted over at Diesel Discussion too. Sorry for double post. Had a great time. The gullwings were amazing. I don't think I've ever seen so many in one place. Cool and disturbing at the same time.
Made me want to build a bigger garage. (For 300D not 300SL  )        Somebody inspecting my hacking.

[SIGPIC] Diesel loving autocrossing grandpa Architect. 08 Dodge 3/4 ton with Cummins & six speed; I have had about 35 benzes. I have a 39 Studebaker Coupe Express pickup in which I have had installed a 617 turbo and a five speed manual.  [SIGPIC]..I also have a 427 Cobra replica with an aluminum chassis.

Jim and I met up at the auburn museum last week. We spent some excellent museum time then had lunch at a very nice pub and grill.
It was great meeting Jim in person after knowing him here for 20 years. We had a great time discussing cars and such and avoided politics and religion.
