Picking up a NEW 1985 300d tomorrow.

I was able to work a deal on a one owner 300d from Asheville, NC today. It is a real peach! The car has 66k miles and they are documented to the date. All service done at dealer, even the oil changes. No wrecks, dents, scratches ooh man I am tickled. I am gonna make this short because I am off to make pics. Be back in a few.....

Ok, I did not get to get pics tonite because I went to Georges house and I left my pic card at home in my computer. I had my camera but no card to capture.Tomorrow I promise!

It is so so so nice. I can't believe it. My 240d will be parked now. I will put it up for sale next week.

This car is so nice. Look for pics tomorrow late. I have to pick up the car and then drive to Atlanta to a wedding party. I will get them up when I get there.

This car only has 66k. Find another like it..... The dealer(Skyland MB} was going to give him $4900 for the car. He did not want it to go to a dealer so he called me. I am so thankfull!

I approached this gentleman 2 months ago when he pulled up next to my 240d at my store to go to the resteraunt next door. I approached him and we ended up talking about MB for 20 minutes or so. He is retired Ga Tech engineer and bought the car new at Atlanta Classic Cars. It still has the original tag on the front. His wife was getting ill with our long conversation. I gave him my card and told him if he ever wanted to sell give me a call and he did. I worked out all the details today. I am hooked up now.

Does anyone have any advice as to what you would check out as far as maintenance? He just had the oild changed, but I have not looked at all the records to when the tranny was serviced, valve adjust, etc. I am doing a search but the car runs so smooth i do not know what to look for.

My old 300d shook side-to-side at idle. This one does not do that. the a/c did not work on my old one. This one is Ice cold. Center vents, outside vents, floor, whatever. It works! Wood??? Flawless! Michelin x ones. New. Man oh man. Cruise? works. I will show all tomorrow.

Congratulations! '84 and '85 are the best years for 123s, IMO.

I would definately give the car a thorough maintenance, especially the valves and transmission. And make sure to "romp" it on the freeway occasionally, to "blow out" the trap.

The '85 Turbos are the best and most refined of the US 123s...really an awesome find.

I am truly jealous! :)

That is an absolutely BEAUTIFUL car. I love that color. That is my favorite color. They have a similar color to date that you can have ordered on the new S-Classes. My dad once owned a '76 300D, that was almost that same color. I never saw it but he said it looked like the same color. Just out of curiosity, what's the color code?
Thanks
David

You are so lucky to have found such a gem and at a fraction of the price that shyster on eBay is asking for his car.
