you can replace oil cooler lines without removing engine mount - revisited

last saturday i removed both of the oil cooler lines on my 83 300d turbo. i tried to follow the instructions provided recently by gregs. unfortunately i could not figure out a way to loosen my air conditioner compressor. so how did i do the deed? i do not know actually. and i am a little concerned i will have a great deal of difficulty getting the new hoses installed. i do know this. both lines can out from under the car. i was lying on my back and somehow they came out. the botton one was removed first. snaked it through an area near the transmission cooler line. the top one was next. snaked that bugger out the back and it exited right where the ground strap is connected to the engine block. total time to do the deed was right at 3 hours. i had a quote from a respected independent mb garage for $225 for the labour portion. $225 is a lot of money and if i can snake the refurbished lines in in 3 hours, i will be way ahead. wish me luck. for i don't have a clue as to what i am doing.

great attitude janko. half of any job is just getting underway. I build things and am always amazed when one of my otherwise competent friends is tentative about undertaking some new construction task.

my money is on you succeeding.

However, I don't follow the problem about loosening the A/C compressor. Aren't there just a couple of bolts? One is kinda hidden in the back as I recall. Someone here can be more specific.
