I have a rust free 1979 240TD Euro, no engine installed, originally with a manual transmission

Sitting on my garage floor are a complete engine and auto transmission out of a 300TD & an OM606 with a 5-speed manual fitted with a Dieselmaken injection pump.

Also on hand is a complete 300TD dash, center console and various other parts from a wagon I scavenged from a rust bucket.

My quandary is this and am looking for help/suggestions on how to proceed:

1.) Keep it a manual and install the OM606

2.) Install the turbo OM617 with the automatic

I’ve pretty much given up locating a 4 cylinder for the wagon since it would need the hydraulic pump head. More rare than hens teeth. It would likely be pretty lethargic anyway.

Or should I just sell the whole kit and kaboodle to someone with deeper pockets.

The wagon is white with black cloth interior.

The OM617 needs a complete rebuild.

Any suggestions appreciated.
