85 300d first gear flare/slipping help!!!

Hi, I am new to the forum! I have owned an 85 300d for a couple of ears now and it just hit 132k miles. Pretty low for these things. So ever since I have had the car first gear is touchy. Basically, when I start from a stop I have to give it very little throttle because if I floor it or even give it more than half throttle it will jump out of gear into neutral and rev up. As soon as it gets out of first gear the rest of the gears are fine. I can floor it in 2nd 3rd and 4th. It wasn't that bad when I first bought it but now it's getting worse. If I am stopped on a really steep hill I am pretty screwed. Anything I can adjust? maybe a vacuum problem? or I have heard maybe could be a B2 piston problem or seal. The transmission fuild smells slightly burnt im going to change it but I do not think the fluid could be making only first gear a problem.
