220D Temperature Sender
The electrical wire broke off the temperature sender at the engine block on my 72 220D. I tried to solder it back on but the gauge still does not work. Is a new sender available? Does it require a new wire from the gauge to the sender? I would just like to get my gauge working without having to remove the gauge from the instrument cluster. Thanks!

Bad news I'm afraid. That was not a wire. It is a fluid filled capillary tube. Some say it is filled with ether, some say alcohol. Either way the entire unit, gauge, tube and fitting has to be replaced.
Check with Tim. He's in the Chicago area. http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/mercedes-used-parts-sale-wanted/393826-used-114-115-parts.html
