OEM German Bosch Injectors versus Non-OEM Monarks update.
I've had the original design OEM German Bosch injectors back in the 300D for about a week now. The car seems to start easier (faster), smoother power range and smoother shifting. This diagnosis was confirmed by a second driver who has a history of operating the car. There is slight nailing upon start-up but not near as much nailing as with the non-OEM Monark injectors. Once the engine is hot, the car sounds happier and seems to have more zip. Since it appears the non-OEM Monarks may have caused a black sooty condition in the injection chamber, I am planning to do the following:
ALDA adjustment, Injection Pump timing and a Lubro-moly diesel purge to see if this will stop the slight cold start up nailing and clean up the injection chambers. |

I wouldn't hesitate to walk into a dealer and spend my money on a new set of injector needles if I knew I was getting a quality part equal to that (or better) of when the car was manufactured. But I won't based on the feedback from people regarding their 'made in India' items.
Why wouldn't they have them made in Germany and charge an extra $50 bucks for the set is beyond me. As it is, they are sending their customers away with a sub standard product and receiving the appropriate feedback. Like a fish shop, one won't go back if the fish constantly always smells off.

It is normal for the Injectors to Nail a little when the Engine is cold. The IP timing may or may not help that but should be done anyway. There is evidence in you previous thread where you said Soot completely covered the tip if the Injector Nozzle to suggest that one or more had not sealed on the Heat Shield like they were supposed to. As I said before the Monark Nozzles have been working fine in My Mercedes since 2008 and the Volvo Diesel and they were not even designed for a Volvo. From that and what I read in the Previous thread it makes Me think that the Injectors with the Monark Nozzles in them were not properly installed (that soot issue) and/or the Engine timing needs to be re-done. And, from what I have read you are not going to find too many Members dissapointed with the Monark Nozzles.

I ran a set of monarks in my 300td I love em, to me my car started easier was quieter and had a little more power... I don't think they are a crap injector, I wish they were available for the 606 series engine, I'd replace mine on my e300 with them

I don't know who istalled the Injectors but it seems like they did not use new Heat Shields, the Heat Shields were in the upside down or the Injectores were not torqued in the Head correctly. Tiiming can also be a reason Fuel does not burn well and you indicated that the Bosch Nozzles are also Nailing more than you would like. Late Camshaft Timing can also cause poor Fuel burning. The Precombustion Chambers on mine all have dry Carbon deposits in them and that is normal. If the Carbon deposits in the Precombustion Chamber are wet looking that is due to Oil or the Fuel was not burning at all. If the Fuel was not burning at all you would have an obvious performanc loss. As I said in your previous thread it may even be possible that you got a set of defective Nozzles before they did that temp shutdown of production. In you previous thread you said someone you know claims the Monark Nozzles were badly designed. If that were true there would be a whole bunch of agreeing with you and vilifying the Nozzles. But, My mind is open on this subject. Let us see if someone else has negative comments.

New injectors tend to nail more, but that should wane.
Diesel workshops in the Netherlands don't use Monarks, as far as I can see. |

I know when I worked in a Fuel Injection Shop (Bosch Certified) My Boss often got a letter from Bosch asking why were were not buying as much of their Product as they expected. We bought Bosch Injector Nozzles when they were cheaper than other Nozzle to please the Customer cost wise. That was 1975-90 when the Bosch Stuff that I saw was made in Germany.

I replaced what I think were the original Bosch injectors about a month ago with a set rebuilt by greazzer with new Monark nozzles.
The results are fantastic, all the nailing is gone and the idle is super quiet, super smooth. No regrets with the Monarks. I understand that there seems to be a current preference for Bosio nozzles, but given the cost difference between the two, I have no complaints with the Monarks. I am also certain that a part of the performance results are due to the meticulous work done by Greazzer!
