Rear Console Vent in 81' 300SD
Greetings:
Would anyone happen to know why my rear console vent continually stays on whenever I switch on the blower motor? This isn't much of a problem in the summer, but in the winter, my rear seat passengers get a blast of cold outside air while I enjoy heated air in the front. Thanks in advance for the advice---great forum!

That vent at the rear of the center console is independant of the climate control. It's sole purpose is to provide fresh air to the rear seat area. If you look you'll see there is a slider under the the actual vent, move the slider to close off the outside air. If movng the slider does not close off the outside air, the cable (which runs under the console) is likely disconnected or broken.
