JARCO is Japenese Auto Replacement Co. or something like that. The motor looks like a Mitso but I can't enlarge the pics.

If it is a factory turbo diesel, then I drove one just like it in Canada a few years ago. I wish I had one just like it. It was actually quicker than the 3.0 V6 that came standard in the Limited. Much better fuel economy along with typical stellar build quality. I got 12 mpg city in my V6 and I think I remember getting around 20 mpg city in the TD.
I never understood how Toyota got away with giving customers crappy mpg along with lousy performance. If mine had gotten 18-19 city mpg and lousy acceleration, or 12 mpg and great performance, I would have kept the car.

Engine is a Toyota, a pretty decent one but not sold in the US. Using the cluster from the diesel vehicle, especially the part about flipping the harness means that is from a JDM truck, right hand drive, and since the US is pretty much the only country that uses miles anymore, it reads in kilometers.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I had a '99 4-Runner LTD that was lucky to get 18 mpg on the hiway. Once gas prices started up I sold that thing.

the 2LTE is not all that - the engine to go for is the 1KZ, Ive seen these 4 runner (hilux surf) with those engines (they use 2 batteries to fire up).

A friend of mine had a 4 runner diesel RH drive that was imported. Really neat rig that got good mpg's.

Toyotas may be built well but don't drive them anywhere they salt the roads or keep them in coastal towns. Those things rust faster than butter melts in a hot pan.
I've never had or drove a Toyota truck that had good performance. I had an 86 4runner with a cyl and automatic. That thing was a dog. I bet a 240D could have beat me in a race. It was great in the snow and sand though.
