Rebuilt Injectors !!!

I installed the injectors that Sean Watts rebuilt for me with Monark nozzles. Engine runs very smooth, but very loud. From what I read here, the motor should quiet down after some use. I removed the ALTA unit and backed the adjustment screw out one turn and replaced it. I removed the vacuum lines to the EGR and ARV and blanked off the EGR valve with a piece of 20 ga sheetmetal. I also found and fixed another vacuum leak. The car runs great and transmission shifts very smoothly now. I'm sure the injectors help, but tweaking that ALTA device really transformed the car.
However, the #6 injector is leaking a little. I had a #10 machine screw in the dead end return line that I think was the source. I removed the screw and installed a piece of steel wire used to hang acoustical ceilings and glued it in the return line with some gasket cement. I will check it tonight and see if I have it stopped.

Did you have your new rebuilt injectors POP tested before you dropped them in or did Sean do that? I purchased my rebuilt injectors from Sean too and they run great.

Sean did all the work. I just installed them. How long did it take for the motor to quiet down and why do new/rebuilt injectors make more noise?

Sean does not do a Diesel Giant type "Nozzle Swap".
He does the complete rebuilding job to include lapping of the precision parts and Pop Testing.
He also balances the Injectors.
He also sells the Spray Nozzles buy themselves as well as completely new Monark Injectors (you have to ask him what Engine models he covers).

Comment on the loudness. Some have reported this after installing new Injectors and fournd the sound decreased after 200 or so miles.

Also the Fuel Injection Pump timing can have an effect on loudness of the Injectors.

Retarded IP Timing will cause "Nailing" and I also found out that advancing the timing will also cause Nailing.

The Retarded Fuel Injection Pump Timing can be caused be Timing Chain Stretch.

I do not know if on you 87 the Timing Chain stretch can be corrected with an Offset Woodruff Key or not. But, even if the Chain stretch is not corrected the Fuel Injection Pump can be re-timed. But, checking/diong both would be better.

If you have a fuel leak, like the plug end, that can make the injectors loud and cause nailing and air in the system.

I was wondering if that leaking injector was contributing to the noise level.
Gotta get that resolved.
Thanks.

I was able to stop the leak in the end return line. I also cracked the lines at the injectors and did get some bubbles out of two injectors. It's a little quieter.

they will be a bit noisey for awhile, a thing that I noticed helped was I ran some powerService DieselKleen and that got them seated right and quiet pretty quick. I always run it now`

I put some Power Service Bio-Kleen in after I drove drove the car back from FLA because the primary filter clogged. I used to use Diesel Kleen regularly in my Jetta TDI. I will not be driving this car daily for a couple of months. The Benz will be replacing a leased car that I will be turning back in November.
Next project- rear suspension parts.

How do I get in touch with this fellow Sean Watts? I'd like to have him overhaul my injectors.
