Keyless entry gave out last night.
So I discovered that my door locks weren't working last night. Well that sucks for me because the lock was frozen stiff.
I managed to open it up with liberal spraying of lock de-icer, but I don't want to use that everytime. I'm going to be pulling my kick panel out. The unit isn't making any noise which leads me to believe that there is an electrical issue. So my question is, is there any way I can easily unlock the car from within the trunk area? I have my master key. I remember someone saying that you can apply vacuum to the unlock line from within the trunk to open every lock. Is this true? |
Huh? Keyless entry? Electrical locks? Have you tried the passenger door?
And yeah, I don't see a reason why not. Break out the Mityvac on those trunk lines. |

The passenger door was stiff as well. :( |
I'm considering adding an electric unlock to my 123 only because my door key access is prone to freezing. I think the issue may be what freezes and does the electric activation let you skip the frozen component as you unlock. If the mechanism is frozen, applying vacuum in the trunk would still leave you with a frozen mechanism, right?
I'm replacing the window dew wipers thinking that this is where the water comes from that then freezes in the mechanism. No rush for me as the temperature is now routinely in the 70's. |

I set up my keyless locks to unlock the car from the linkage that controls the inside door locking pin. That linkage is entirelly seperate from the tumbler. It was a pain in the butt to bend the linkages, but it makes sense when you get a good look at everything in there. The next time I'm locked out of my car, I'll apply vacuum to the redish unlock line. From my interlock diagram, it may work. If not eh who cares I keep the deicer in the trunk just in case. |
I thought the yellow/green was the unlock vacuum line... and the yellow/red was the lock line ?

USKeyless
If you choose to buy a new keyless entry, don't use USKeyless. They are HORRIBLE! I ordered from them as well. They didn't even ship the part for over a month after purchase despite numerous calls/emails. They were eager to respond until they got paid, then NOTHING. They won't answer phone or return e-mails. Their installation instructions are the worst I have ever seen. It says something like "Chooser the brown wire" when there is over 100 brown wires. They are NEVER available for assistance even though they claim assistance available (and website says avail even on the weekends for assistance). Now it has been 3 months, my car still has the floorboard tore up awaiting a PROMISED e-mail with pictures, but nothing. I have asked for a refund, but they won't respond. STAY AWAY from USKeyless!

I'd just replace the keyless thing with another system, they are so easy to install and so cheap!
