W126 front window regulator/motor removal - HOW?

I've searched and searched and I can't find a definitive how-to on getting the window mechanism out of the driver's side front door on my '83 300SD. It appears I've got stripped gears somewhere because the motor spins but the regulator doesn't move.

The aluminum bracket which the motor is attached to appears to be secured to the "X" shaped regulator arms at one central pivot point which has a coil spring on the pivot post. Separating the bracket from the arms here would be ideal, but it doesn't look like a possibility with the whole mechanism inside the door, so I suppose the whole regulator/motor assembly has to be disconnected from the window and taken out as one unit.

I haven't found a good description anywhere of how to do that on my car (photos would be great). I've already scraped some of the tinting off the inside of my window and I'm getting frustrated...

Got it out

Removing pretty much any fastener with a 10mm head with the window all the way down, then raising the window all the way back up allowed me to pull the whole unit out.

Now to the problem... the large quadrant gear is attached to one of the X arms of the regulator with two large rivets. These rivets snapped. I am off to find someone who can weld the gear to the arm. Just what I want to be doing on a Saturday afternoon when the surf's up...

^^Yeah, you need to get the window down where you can access the bolts that hold the regulator to the bottom of the window, then three bolts/nuts, finagle it out.
