New Timing Chain - Master Link Won't Fit in Clip

I just bought a new iwis timing chain and I'm dry fitting the master link to the chain, but the master link won't fit through the clips, i.e., the holes on the clips are too small for the link to pass.

Any advice on how to fit this? Should it be this tight? I don't want to hammer it in because I have to take it out again to install it and I don't want to break it. I can't imagine how this would work while it's being installed, especially the middle clip.

Thx.
