Last Purolator I buy!!!

I don't think that I will be purchasing any Purolator products in the future. I opened my air cleaner assembly this morning to find this disgusting mess. Luckily, it has only been in there since the 21st of May. The pleats are perfectly clean, suggesting that it has not been doing much filtering.

Not to worry. That's just Purolator's new & improved Turbo Filter. It's designed to open at various places to allow mass airflow in. You can now drive faster than a bat out of hell!

looks like one of the cleaner housing mounts is right at the bottom where one split is, any chance theyre sticking up too far and puncturing the filter?

Send the picture to the manufacturer and ask if they can explain.

It's probably still better than a K&N.

That is strange.

I bought a Purolator air filter about 6 months ago. I was surprised when I opened the box and found the filter was stamped "MANN".

Nothing wrong with the filter housing mounts. Upon closer inspection, it looks like there is simply not enough glue between the pleats, and there is no other reinforcement. Both the top and bottom of the filter were cracked like this. No other damage is visible. It just looks like it probably split when I put the cover on and tightened it down. This one says Made in USA Poor design. I went to Autozone to get a FRAM, and apparently they don't sell them for this model anymore?? so I had to get an STP.

Even worse than my Fram oil filter story, since that one continued to work properly. Yes, send your filter back to Purolator, maybe they will send you some freebies like Fram did for me.
