Making Bio

Thanks to that tip about peanut oil being sold @ Target for 9.99 for 3 gal.
I now have 3 gal I would like to process into Bio.
I need a recipe, and a bare bones way of doing it
I am NOT going to build a multi hundred dollar processer to do it.
What do I need to do?

Forced :p

Are you as against ASTM D 6751 Biodiesel as you are the home-made kind? I know some of these off-the-shelf processors are capable of producing that grade.

Pour it straight in the tank as an additive and go!

Search around on other boards, this board is not bio specific and some of the members are very against it. You basically have to add KOH or NaOH with ethanol or methanol to form caustic soda. You then have to mix it with the grease so that it chemically forms glycerine and biodiesel. Of course, it is much more scientific than that and required careful measurement.

You may want to search around for bio specific forums. A large board is biodiesel.infopop.cc

Dude, you're in FL, pour it right in the tank and top off with reg diesel.
It's what I do all summer with the waste oil I get from my bar fryer.
Just filter well (yours should be fine since it's virgin) and pour in the tank.
Top off with diesel.

good luck

No, I only dislike the homemade illegal fuels. It is NOT an additive.

It is not an additive when you are running a lot of it in your tank, but it is an additive when you add 2% to your tank. In recent testing, 2% biodiesel was shown to lubricate better than any additive tested. Kind of hard to say it is not an additive when it works better than all of them.

Also, not sure about Colorado, but in GA it is legal to make biodiesel for road use as long as you pay road taxes and make less than a certain amount. Biodiesel is an approved road fuel.

The problem is nobody pays the taxes.

You can easily make a small sample in a blender or bucket or something, but if you plan on making it full-time, definitely invest in a motorized processor.

Forced, I paid my taxes when I made it, and now I pay them when I buy it.

I guess some people just feel the need to be "against" something. Sad, really.

As to the actual topic: if it's virgin oil, just pour it in.

I didn't mean to pi$$ so many folks off.
This is a one time deal, I just want to do a "bio purge" then dump the rest in the tank when it is near empty to clean out the rest of the system.
I am not running it full time, and I don't want to build a processor to do it.

Thanks for the link.....it will be a big help

Not that many people, just the anti-bio Hezbollah.
