OM601/602/603 - same bracket for compressor?
Is the bracket for the AC compressor the same on OM601, OM602 and OM603?
The reason for me asking is because the 601 part# seems to have been updated by a 603 part# according to a dismantler in Denmark - And I don't want to order the wrong part! ![]() |

that is probably
because the 601 came first and was followed by the 02 and 03.... all using the same bracket, which may be beefed up for the 603 but still works for the entire family.
just thinking out loud... dont know for sure, but it sounds logical. tom w

The US EPC has the same part number progression of 601 prefix brackets for all 601/2/3 engines except for the 603.970 which uses a 603 prefix bracket and the 603.971 which uses a 605 prefix bracket (R134a compressor?).

Well, finally received the bracket today, at a whopping 125$ (Original price was 50$, the rest is tax/fees/postage) - and of course it doesn't fit properly!! It lines up with the holes on the engine, but the compressor seems to be to small for it...
![]() On closer inspection I see that the part number listed on it is 605 234 02 39, even though the tag on it says "601 130 04 35 - Bracket for compressor 603". Now, to my new questions; Does anyone know whether the compressors for the newer engines (for instance 605) are larger than the older ones? OR, whether the compressor for dieselengines (such as 601/602/603) is larger than those for petrolengines (mine is from a 102)? Aaargh, I've had parts shipped from all over the world without problems (and cheaper), but the package from our neighbour country and with the least "fun" part is obviously causing problems!! ![]() |

Sven, If it would help, I have bracket R 601 131 00 35 (number cast on bracket) which came from a 602.911 (out of a 1986 190D 2.5). Price is US$15 Plus shipping (approx. $26 Airmail Parcel Post. This would get it to Norway, but any taxes, duty, etc. would be your responsibility). I don't remember what compressor this held, but if you are interested I will check the car this weekend (my son drives it now).

Almost certain it held a 10p15c Nippondenso. That's what all the 601/602/603 cars used. Only exception I've ever heard of is the 603.9xx 3.5 liter engines; at least some of which had the 10p17c compressor. I'm guessing this is the bracket Sven got hold of.

![]() JimY; Just ran out to the garage to check the 102-compressor, which says 10pa15c, so you are most likely right (190E and 190D compressors are different, not sure how though).OM605 is the engine code for the 20-valve replacement of the OM602 - apparently they changed compressors as well with the launch of that engine.. I will contact the supplier of the 605-bracket and try to cover some of my losses on that dead-end.... Thanks for the info guys! ![]() ![]() |

Probably the om605 uses the same compressor as the om606. I had a 210 with the turbocharged om606 for a few years. It used a newer model Nippondenso variable displacement compressor. A very nice unit, that car had no difficulty dealing with the heat in Texas. I don't know the model number of the compressor, unfortunately.
BTW, the 10p15c and 10pa15c are different model compressors. I'm not certain of the difference (they are the same displacement), but I do know they are not interchangeable. - JimY |

Thanks for the info - I scored a remanufactured 190D-compressor on Ebay for 34$ just in case the one I got was defect, so I guess I will have to use that one instead then

Hanno; Received the bracket today, thanks a LOT!!!! Wow, must say I was impressed to see an 'as-new' bracket INCLUDING BOLTS when I opened up the box!!
