Did upper control arms today...
Went pretty well...about 2.5 hours with a tire rotation included. I followed dieselgiant's DIY which was very helpful. I used a 3-point gear puller instead of a pickle fork. It worked just fine and would be helpful if you are only replacing bushings, since it does not destroy the boot like the pf. Also didn't feel like paying to rent a pf kit for $40, when I had the gear puller.
Front end is a lot more solid. Gotta get an alignment now. I had a lot of negative camber due to bad inner bushings, and I think the po may have had it aligned like that. Now I have some positive camber and pulling to the left a little. Mark |
Good job! Nothing like the satisfaction of doing something yourself.

Absolutely! I was a little nervous about pushing up on the sway bar w/ my breaker bar to get the outer bushings lined up. Didn't know if I was going to need a linebacker from the local high school team, but it wasn't so bad. The inner bushings were so bad that the arms were rubbing on the chasis(hence the neg. camber). Driver's side arm had been rubbing so long that it had really worn thin.
