tank removal pics - 300DT
Here are some pics I took today after removing tank on my 82' 300DT It has 238,000 miles. I was having clogged see-thru filters and stalling. I use veggie oil and I wanted to know if I had fungus. I didn't have. Tank screen was basically clean. I did have some worn out pieces of fuel hose above the rear axle that were cracked and those will be replaced. I suppose the veggie oil loosened up debris in the tank. I am taking it to the carwash tomorrow and will give it a much needed cleaning.
In the pic with the 2 fuel lines in the trunk going to the engine, I noticed some red-pink looking stuff inside the entrance of one of the lines. I took a screwdriver and scraped it off and it was like a powder. I did drop some Startron, (Super-Walmart, Sporting Goods, 9$) in yesterday and wondering if that's the stuff doing it's thing?? Anyone have any ideas on that. I do need to flush that line and the other. Any advice?? |

In the first two pics the cracks seem to be in a part of the hose that would not be in contact with the oil unless it leaked. How about cutting the hose open to better inspect the inside ? Steve

I will do that. I figure that there is obviously a leak considering the condition of the hoses on the outside. There is a patch of oil residue above both of the pieces of hose in that area so there would be no other explanation BUT I could be wrong.
I'll cut those pieces and post results. |
