Tranny Front Pump leak on W124 How Do I fix?
Hi there,
I believe I have a Leaky Front Pump seal on my transmission. Any idea how to fix? Would Trans-x brand stop leak fix it? Thanks! Nick |
anyone done the repair...

I have done this repair on my old Pontiac. I had to separate the engine from the tranny to do it. The TC is in the way for pump plate and seal removal.

I just did this repair on a 420SEL a few weeks ago. The trans needs to be dropped along with the torque converter. This is not a job for the faint of heart. Have someone to help you remove the tranny. Once the tranny is out the seal replacement is easy. Make sure that you are leaking transmission fluid and not oil from rear of valve cover. I personally know someone who made this mistake.

Definitely red fluid vs motor oil. I'm possitive it's from the trans. Doesn't look to be a fun job. Maybe I'll try stop leak gimmik type stuff first. Never know, couldn't hurt.

i would never put a 'stop leak' product in any of my cars, MB or not. It thickens the transmission fluid and can cause internal failures (sticking valves etc.)....
my 2 cents.... |
NOTHING but Approved ATF!
Anything else... and the resulting failure be on your pocketbook/wallet.
