Fuel Parts…Viton vs. Rubber?

Does it make sense to go to Vitron for fuel line parts like: delivery valve o rings, fuel filter o rings, injector return line hose, etc.? Understand it does if going to run WVO but how about if your only going to be running USLD?

thanks

It's "Viton" (no "r").

Actually any form of Biofuel you want to use Tygon or Viton for fuel lines. I used Tygon for the injector returns and return to tank line, because I could buy it cheaper and it is see through with yellow tint.

I heard from a couple sources that most of the large ("5/16 to 1/2") fuel lines now are bioD compatable now days.

Thanks OldNavy. Can you give me a source for the Tygon and Viton?

I didn't want the Viton so I didn't even look it up, I like the see through of this for the injectors and returns. Lets you know if you have air.

OldNavy, is one size for return line and one for supply? Also, will I need to use small clamps on the return line barbs or just slip on like I do now with the braided? Do you use viton for your o rings?

thanks

I sell viton fuel system replacement components.

http://www.fryerpower.com/store/page11.html

I am adding parts as I identify them.

I have the 603/617 engines pretty much covered. I am working on the newer engines/fuel systems now.

OldNavy, re-read your last post where you said, "I used Tygon for the injector returns and return to tank line." Assume this is reason for the two different sizes.

fuel supply/return lines are 5/16, injector return lines are 1/8.

You got it my friend. Between the lift pump/primer and fuel tank steel line I used regular fuel line. The Tygon does not need any clamp for the injector line as the line isn't high pressured and it is a real snug fit.

I forgot to mention that sorry. But that is one of the reasons I went with Tygon, it will stretch and stays on the nipples like OEM lines and it allows you to check for air in the fuel lines.

One another note if you want to never replace any of the rubber vacuum splices (just connecting two lines) then buy a couple feet of Silicone tubing and it will outlast the car probably. It has a working temp of about -80*F to 500*F so it does well under the hood where ever a single hard line attaches to something. Must be about 2 or 3 feet of the single connections under my hood.

I'd be curious to know if anyone has used this stuff-
http://www.procycle.us/main/fuel_hose.htm

I found it on a VWTDI forum.

I just wonder about the "cigar" hose. Can you just replace that with any fuel line, or does it need to have that 'special' shape?

Bet McMaster-Carr has it cheaper and available in smaller lots.

The cigar hose was "supposedly" designed to reduce the impulses of the fuel pump, I ran with regular fuel line on my 240D w/o any problem. I did however install the cigar before selling the car just so as to not scare a buyer. My 91 doesn't have a cigar hose and it is same basic fuel system.
