Name That Part!

The show where experienced MB gearheads explain basic engine anatomy to simple minded mendicants like Sam.

For today's part we have some bit that moves around when someone stomps on the accelerator pedal. It has a groove that a pin moves in, but the groove has a serious wear spot, meaning the pedal response is not very good as the pin 'hangs up' on that wear spot. This may also be affecting an intermittant cruise control problem.

What is that part???

The 617.95 service manual refers to the outlined part as the "guide lever." The smaller lever to which the bowden cable attaches is the "drag lever."

I was experiencing flaring, mostly from 2nd to 3rd gears.
Found some vacuum issues that I fixed thanks to Mity-vac.

But when I checked the bowden cable it wasn't working properly. It was only moving about 1/8 inch at WOT.
Did a search for bowden and found this thread with the picture.
Problem solved!

The drag lever come off the guide lever and wasn't moving.

I don't know what I would do without all the people here who make this site work.
