Nice diesel G-wagen on ebay...

In Canada. Minimum bid seems to be set too high, zero bids so far, but interesting anyway. If I was going to own an SUV, I would probably want this one...

Thumbs up

Wow... the new ones and the old ones look almost identical. That would be an interesting drive, NA 617 with a 4 speed (maybe 5?) in a 3 ton vehicle.

saw my alderman today at mobil. we pulled in together. well no he pulled in way ahead of me cuz his foot is haeavier. so he tells me that he is thinking of a new car and is thinking of a jeep liberty diesel. he seemed unhappy that they aren't rolling out right away but was still interested.

i wonder if he would notice the speed diff between this car and his honda 4 wheeler.

The new ones and the old ones ARE the same. The chassis hasn't changed since 1977, IIRC. I understand they will be changing it soon and it will be a unibody, like the new M, and it will be built at the Alabama plant.

Some of those have a 240D engine in them not the 5 cylinder.....can you imagine a 3 ton vehicle with THAT 4 cylinder engine in it......It would make a 240D automatic seem absolutely fast.

i talked to the alderman tonite over coffee at the local green oarty gtg. he thinks an american car would be a better statement. he is in insurance and doesn't want to give the client the impression that he does not need the sale. i tried to impress on him the age of said vehicle but no. so much for his bio diesel adventures. not to mention fryer grease.

Looks like a nice car, but these things, until they started putting the turbos in them are just too damn slow for what I'd need one for (highway travel). I'm aching to get a diesel G at this point, but have to fight off the urge to buy one of these older ones popping up on E-bay. Looks like it would be a blast to have for around-town, rough weather driving ... if I had $8k to spend for those purposes, I would.

Wow, the second one is a 4cyl, its hideous green with an equally bad upolstry, its rusty and most of the electrical stuff doesn't work. And its 10grand. Yeah, that makes sense. Nucking Futs. RT
