Need help to identify paint code '81 300SD

Guys - here is a picture of the ID plate on the radiator support for my 1981 300SD. I have all the MB paint codes and believe my code is 904 G which is midnight blue (dark blue) (dunkelblau).

There are a lot of numbers on this plate but I see 904, then a space, then a G on the next to bottom line.

Does this look right?

Thx

Here is a good paint code page.
http://www.w116.org/library/colors

904 is correct for the plate. 904 is Dark Blue Metallic.

This is the best site I have seen on how to interpret the number plate.

Click on the body tag at the lower left.

Phil - thanks for the website. It is really good. I now understand the build tag for my 81 300SD and minus some codes can read all the accessories. I sent an email to the website owner's email address asking if he knows where I can get the remaining accessory codes (his are based upon 1979 date) but the email address no longer works.

Any idea where I can find these codes without bothering the dealer?

DB 904 is Midnight Blue, had this same exterior color on my previous W126. Here is also a good site to find correct colors/codes.

http://www.paintscratch.com/

This site calls it Dark Blue Clearcoat, but MB calls it Midnight Blue. Don't know why the name difference on the site, first time I've noticed a contradiction with the color names.

http://old.mbclub.ru/mb/vin/?lng=eng Enter your VIN and it'll tell you the option codes and descriptions and other key information. There are likely more options than are listed in the tag on the radiator support.

Let me introduce you to yahoo and google

467 = 461 & 466 = instrument with mileage reading and English lettering & central locking system

491 = US version

504 = outside rear view mirror, right, electrically adjustabe (L.H.D.)

588 = 581 & 584 = automatic climate control & electric window lifters (front and rear doors)

592 = heat-insulating glass, all-around, heated rear window pane (laminated glass), band filter

639 = 634 & 636 = elimination of first aid box & elimination of warning triangle

801 = change of model year, the last figure shows the new model year

Sixto - that's a great help. Thanks.

PS - my wife thinks I am crazy to be so interested in an almost thirty old car.

Would she prefer you to be interested in an almost thirty year old wife?
