Bundt 14 inch rims and tire sizes

Will a 195/70/14 tire fit properly on a factory 14 bundt rim? I'm running 205's now.

I believe 195/70/14 is the stock tire size from the factory.

Yes..it will then be the stock size and about 1/2" shorter than the 205's. It will have 77-3/4" C , as compared to the 79-1/2"C of the 205.
Meaning the speedo will then be correct w/195.

Yes - I have been running 195-75-14 tires since 1984; they have been on my 300SD since 1981. This is the stock size.

I've got 205/70/14's and my speedo is dead-on accurate at 80 MPH. I've even got the officer's signature attesting to it.

I've heard that my 85' SD rims are slightly wider than the 14s of prior years.

There were at least two different widths of 14" bundts. I know my 1983 300D came with the narrower 14x6" bundt and the 195/70/14 tire. I think the SD might have been 1/2 wider but the wheels looked the same. The size of your wheel is marked on the back side. What is it?

Tire guy told me 195's will be 1/2 inch less wide than the 205. But the height will be the same. Will try them out.

The exact difference in width is 10mm. [ 205-195 = 10 mm]
..but the height can not be the same b/c the sidewall measure is the "Aspect Ratio " of the tire..... so, a 70 A/R means the sidewall is 70% of the Width.
Simple math will tell you that 70% of 205mm is NOT the same as 70% of 195mm.
So, back to my post..a 205/70-14 tire is taller than a 195/70-14 tire.
The reason guys use the 205/70-14 for a replacement is b/c the OEM tire was 195/75-14..and a 75 A/R on a 195 equates closely to 70 A/R on a 205
tire for heigth.....
Your question is for using size 195/70-14.....they will work, but as you can see, that size will be shorter than both/either the 195/75 or the 205/70 tires.

if I am correct the SD had a 6.5 wheel. I bought a spare bundt from a friend that came off an SD, the original spare ( swapped the tires for something, fresh). Sold the set earlier this year and the buyer called me and said he got an oddball with the set.. three 6JET30's and 1 6-1/2JET30... apparently the w126 wheel was 6.5

So, 195/75/14 is the factory tire size?

195 is for the 123's. . the 6.5 inch bundt (which would be a 205/70/14) is correct for 107's, 116's, 126's. . .pull off a wheel and look on the back, if the stamp reads "6 1/2X14ET30" then your correct tire would be a 205/70/14 (correct for your SD). . ."6X14ET30" would be correct with a 195 treadface.

But for 123, the ratio is 70, not 75.
Mine, which I bought new in 1983 (83 300D T) came with 14" bundts and 195/70/14 tires.

I don't know about the 300SD (W126) for sure. May have been wider.

The reason for the different opinions on this question is b/c the original poster ask which size tire to fit the bundt w/o giving us the chassis.
The Bundts come in two width and each will take tire widths accordingly, but the tire SIZE [ width/aspect ratio]is determined by the CHASSIS the tire goes on, along with which rim that tire size will fit.
Asking if a bundt is SUPPOSED to have a 70 profile instead of a 75 profile [ or even a Euro size 80 profile ] is an incorrect question. That is a chassis question.............

240 D tire size

What are stock tire wheel and sizes for a 1982 240 . I have a set of Hak1 studded snows that are 185-65-14. Would these fit on stock rims? They are load rated at about 1200# each.
