ss109's suggestions make sense and should help but, the 2000 was all I needed.

- Be sure to wet sand not dry sand.
- Use a buffer with the swirl remover.
The swirl remover applied with a buffer should remove the sand marks. You may never get the sand marks out by hand.
- follow the swirl remover with Show Car Glaze and then Wax.

That's all I did on my wife's white '95 E420 to remove screwdriver scratches where vandals pried off the trunk star. It came out great.

I answer to your last question...no, Meguiar's paint cleaner will not help at all.
